Disciplinary, grievance and dismissal

Disciplinary action against you

How can we help you?

  • Advice and assistance throughout the disciplinary process, including preparation for the hearing, analysis of your case and instruction on how to respond to any allegations. Assistance for any subsequent claims arising out of a dismissal can also be provided as well as negotiating any termination of employment.

What can you expect?

  • Our professional support and guidance, being invited to a disciplinary hearing can be a distressing situation.
  • There is a risk that the disciplinary hearing could result in a formal warning or dismissal or some other sanction being taken (such as reduction in salary or grade).

Grievances (a complaint made by you)

How can we help you?

  • Advice and assistance on how to deal with any grievance.
  • This could include drafting of the initial grievance, guidance and negotiating, helping with preparation for the hearing, analysis of the grievance response and dealing with any appeal or subsequent tribunal claim.

What can you expect?

  • Grievances are best dealt with at an early stage, informally, with your  immediate line manager.
  • If it cannot be resolved informally it should be dealt with formally.  By allowing management to deal with issues it can help to facilitate a resolution to the issues raised
  • Employers should have a procedure in place to handle grievances, and this should follow, as best practice, the Acas guide.
