It has just become known that Stonebeach Ltd the main trading subsidiary of Patisserie Valerie has had a winding up petition issued against it by HMRC. This means that HMRC is trying to close the company down because it has not (allegedly) paid its taxes. Having a petition issued against a company is not good news because it usually ends the life of the company. However if the grounds for the petition are wrong or an arrangement can be made, closure of the company may be avoided. Our lawyers regularly advise, act and appear before the courts on these type of cases.
