overview
Emma is a partner and Joint Deputy Head in our award-winning and Legal 500 Recommended Private Client team and a member of our award-winning Elderly Client and Vulnerable adult team.
Emma was Highly Commended Private Client Lawyer of the Year in the 2021 Surrey Law Society Legal Awards, a fitting recognition of her excellent contribution to the profession and her technical knowledge.
Emma holds a BA (Hons) in European Studies and Spanish from the University of Essex, and CILEx qualifications (levels 3 and 6) from the University of Westminister and CILEx Law School. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Legal Executive in 2015 and is a Full Accredited Member of The Association of Lifetime Lawyers (ALL), previously known as Solicitors for the Elderly. Emma was promoted to Partner in 2024.
Prior to joining Howell Jones, Emma worked at Osbornes Solicitors LLP in London. Before retraining as a legal executive, Emma worked at Title Research as a probate genealogist.
Emma’s specialism is in wills, estate administration, Court of Protection, lasting powers of attorney and trust administration.
Emma has had notable success across a number of cases. Here are details of some of her most prominent:
- Obtaining an urgent direction from the Court of Protection to enable an application for an interim possession order to evict squatters from P’s empty house.
- Re-sealing an Australia Grant of Representation for the estate of an Australian domiciled deceased to enable the English estate (which consisted of multiple shareholdings) to be dealt with.
- Dealing with the administration of a multi-million-pound estate consisting of six rental properties. This involved dealing with all of the tenancies to enable the properties to be sold at auction and liaising with HMRC to obtain clearance for undeclared income tax during the lifetime of the deceased.
When not working, Emma likes to relax with an occasional visit to the cinema and enjoys reading.
