overview
Katy is a partner at Howell Jones and heads up our Family Team. Katy specialises in all aspects of divorce and separation including financial arrangements (by agreement/consent or contested proceedings), pre and post nuptial/registration agreements, cohabitation agreements and cohabitee disputes and issues relating to children (where they live, who they spend time with and other specific matters including international relocation).
Katy holds an LLB (Hons) from London University and completed her Solicitors Final Exams at the College of Law in Guildford. She is part of the Family Law Accreditation Scheme. Prior to joining Howell Jones, Katy worked with other well-known firms.
Katy specialises in financial disputes for both low/medium net worth and high net worth individuals alike, using her knowledge and experience to advise and assist in the hope of reaching an agreed settlement but is equally prepared to take the matter to court and fight for a fair outcome for the client.
Katy also deals with more complex children issues including relocation both within the jurisdiction and internationally as well as disputes involving domestic abuse allegations and child welfare issues. Recently she has been able to assist with non-contentious issues helping parents make arrangements for their children due to the parents terminal illness.
Although not actively practicing as a Collaborative lawyer the training has helped her develop a conciliatory yet firm approach to negotiations always trying to be aware of the bigger picture in the best interest of clients.
Katy was Family Lawyer of the Year finalist in the 2021 SLS Legal Awards, a fitting recognition of her excellent contribution to the profession and her technical knowledge.
Outside of work
When away from the office, Katy enjoys spending time in her home and garden working on her DIY and green-fingered skills. She also loves socialising with friends and trying new restaurants and visiting new places.
